Rutile included in Quartz

A beautiful example of these classic and eye-catching combos from Diamantina. The Quartz / Rutile specimens from this locality are iconic, and considered in the top tier of the two species together from any world locality. The piece features a good sized, very gemmy, colorless, prismatic hexagonal Quartz crystal which plays host to dozens of deep red metallic "needles" of Rutile which are both included inside, and sitting on the surface. Minor roughness can be seen in areas, but the piece largely undamaged. It's so much fun to view all of the delicate Rutile crystals inside of the Quartz, crisscrossing each other in multiple directions. Beautiful and fine quality, this is older material dating back a few decades and very attractive in person.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#148 Br), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
