Item Description

Beautiful carved and polished bowl of Smoky Quartz, with the Quartz richly included by golden needlkes of Rutile. The quality of the Quartz is good - totally gemmy throughout, and the the Rutile crystals are in a classic star pattern, with the crystal needles reaching an impressive 3 cm. Fine aesthetics for a combination that is sought-after and prized. From the large worldwide collection of historical minerals, of George Elling of New Jersey. 169 grams. Believe it or not, this was made as an ashtray and might be the only ashtray sold by famous mineral dealer Larry Conklin, ironic because he was such a purist for crystals! Anybody who knew him would laugh and cry to see this - and he must have loved it. Generally these are available wholesale today, still - but in lesser quality. This one is lapidary quality, beyond the norm.
