Rutile (excellent - classic locality)

These specimens came out in the 1990s, from a very limited discovery, and then virtually disappeared from the market. This piece is one of the best examples we've had to offer as it's not only fine quality, but notably aesthetic to boot. This showy small cabinet specimen features a 1.8 cm, rather lustrous, dark reddish-silvery colored metallic crystal of Rutile with sharp, smooth, well-formed faces that is just flaring off the underlying matrix. The Rutile is pristine, and the crystal morphology is top-notch! A really impressive and incredibly hard to find piece of this beautiful material from Azerbaijan. Valued $2,500.
From the world-famous mineral collection of Dr. Ed David (#8M) Ed was a PhD electrical engineer and the science advisor to President Richard Nixon and the Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology from 1970 to 1973. The specimen originally was in the collection of Keith Proctor, and most recently part of Brian Kosnar's personal collection.
