Rutile (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Rutiles from the Champion Mine are among the best crystallized examples of the species from the United States. This rare and attractive matrix specimen features a distinct of Rutile crystal measuring 1.1 cm perched atop contrasting Pyrophyllite matrix and comes from the classic California locality. The Rutile crystal is quite sharp, lustrous and well-formed with a deep metallic reddish-black hue. It would be considered, for the sharpness and the aesthetics, to be a very worthwhile specimen from this remote mine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1587).
