Item Description
An odd specimen from Switzerland which according to the label comes from a locality called Ivagua, but I can't find a listing for this name in any database. With that said, the piece features sharp, well-formed, semi-metallic, dark reddish-black Rutile crystals in/on pegmatite matrix with the largest crystal measuring 4 mm. This is certainly a different kind of Swiss Rutile, and not the typical Alpine material that we're used to seeing. Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
