Item Description

Here we have a wonderful classic Champion Mine Rutile specimen featuring sharp, well-formed, reddish-black colored crystals free of matrix. The crystals have an unusual "bent" or "curved" appearance that I honestly haven't seen in many Champion Mine specimens. Great quality and form from this old California mine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3411). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
