Rutile and Hematite

The famous finds at Novo Horizonte over the years have produced distinctive bursts of lustrous, golden Rutile needles on Hematite like this one. Multiple parallel growth Hematite plates are host to abundant epitaxial rutile growths on gray, submetallic plates of Hematite up to 6.5 cm across. The epitaxial, needle-like, almost fibrous, golden Rutile crystals are up to 3.5 cm in length growing as starbursts on the edges of the Hematite plates. Both the Hematites and Rutiles are tiered, so that you have multiple layers of the two. This is a dramatic and colorful "starburst" whose interior is good and pristine. The piece is in good condition, although with some peripheral clipping of the Rutile at edges, which is common with many of these and does not visually detract. It is also sturdy enough to ship it, although it should then be unpacked carefully.
