Item Description
This old extinct emerald known is known for producing fine rutile crystals. This splendent sharply terminated, well-striated thumbnail crystal has classic wine-red color and is dramatically accented with zones of bright cherry-red color. Complete all-around. The front is in great shape. The contact at the base of the front has no damage, per se and the slight edge bruise is certainly only a trivial detraction. You barely see the wilber at the termination. Partial contacting on the sides and back are noted. This remains an excellent, highly representative thumbnail rutile from this obscure old emerald mine. Classic and uncommon North Carolina rutile.
