Item Description
A classic specimen of Rutile from the famous locality at Diamantina. The piece has a bright metallic exterior in reflected light, but in trasmitted light, a beautiful deep orange-red hue appears. It's also doubly-terminated to boot! You can see a small "knee"-twin flaring off the side of the larger crystal. It's not easy to see in photos, but the color is there, and the fact that this is GEM quality Rutile in crystals that measure more than a couple of mm is a big deal! This a beautiful example of the species, and a fine quality Rutile from the standpoint of luster and gemminess. These are not common on the market, and pieces like this are hard to find in my experience in today's market.
