Item Description

Sharp, uncommon thumbnail of Rutile from the Champion Mine in CA. This crystal on matrix has excellent, iridescent luster and very attractive beveled edges. The single Rutile crystal is 1 cm across, and contacted on one non-presentation face. To quote the collector who actually mined it, "The rutile from there is some of the very finest material to be found anywhere. It occurs in a beige pyrophyllite that may in places be altered to a sericite." A very good thumbnail.
