Rutilated Quartz

Item Description

Rich and sculptural large two-sided rib of rutilated and non-rutilated quartz crystals from Novo Horizonte. The striking cluster of large gem crystals on one side are included with bright golden rutile needles, to around 2.0 cm. These crystals reach 4.7 cm and a 4.3 cm crystal is doubly terminated. The quartz matrix on this side is richly saturated with small rutile needles. The gem crystals on the much denser 'B' side reach 4.8 cm (doubly terminated) and far fewer are included with rutile needles. The crystals on the 'A' side are very nearly pristine, with only a small bruise to the tip of the upright projecting crystal. Minimal scattered tip bruising to the denser 'B' side is a very modest detraction. Novo Horizonte is famous for rutilated quartz and rutile epitaxial on hematite but CLUSTERS such as this are very rare. A very fine, showy and exceptionally rich large two-sided rutilated quartz from the locale. Valued $2000.
