Item Description
OLD-TIME, RARE silver from an obscure mine in the Urals. A thin, less than 1 mm, moderately lustrous, acanthite-coated vein or sheet of silver covers the front of the blocky matrix. Comes with a VERY OLD German label dating to circa 1800. Formerly in the Count Sierstorpff Collection and later in the Bostard Collection. Not pretty to look at but an ultimate old-time rarity with a very interesting historical provenance. Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007).
