Item Description
Sphalerite is very much an under appreciated species from the famous Elmwood Mine, where golden calcite and purple fluorite reign. This impressive and aesthetic large example features two isolated large clusters of splendent, twinned, rubyjack sphalerite crystals on the sparkly, drusy quartz-covered silicified limestone matrix. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only trival periphey wear. It displays dramatically from two different views. The sphalerite glows with partial gemminess, when backlit. Older material from the 1980s. 4.9 pounds or 2.2 kilos. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!!
