Ruby / Zoisite

This is very attractive and well known material, but rarely does one find a piece like this. These Ruby / Zoisite specimens were found in Tanzania in 1954 (sometimes referred to as "Anyolite" after the Massai word for green), and are very popular among collectors either as cabochons or for carvings. This piece is a beautiful "Pear Cabochon" cut stone of Ruby / Zoisite showing the purplish-red and bluish-green hues mixed together. A good representative gem of this unique and eye-catching material.
