Item Description
A beautiful, stout, classic pigeons blood-red, ruby crystal is elegantly perched on matrix and is partially cloaked in platy, neon-green, mavinite blades. The textbook hexagonal ruby is lustrous and is partially translucent. Mavinite is a unique green brittle mica found only at Karnataka, India. It is intermediate between "xanthophyllite" (= clintonite) and chloritoid and is not recognized as a distinct mineral species. Irregardless, this is a pristine, very rare and excellent example of the combination species and locale. Valued $750-900.
