Item Description

Ruby corundum is EXTREMELY RARE from the mines, pegmatites and quarries of the famous Kragero area. MINDAT does not list the species. Sections of classic pigeons blood-red ruby crystals, to 2.2 cm, are festooned on all sides of the sculptural large triangular matrix of muscovite and feldspar. Classic red fluorescence. Previously in the collection of well-known East Coast collector, Joe Cilen, who passed away in 1997. The specimen number matches the label number of respected rarities dealer, Josef Vajdak (Pequa Minerals) and was collected in the 1950's. Ex David Burgess Collection.
