Ruby from Myanmar is one of the most storied gems in the world. Some of the finest Rubies in the world are found in the gem marbles around Mogok. This gem has an attractive pinkish red color, and is certainly gem quality. The stone has some slight inclusions and an"Oval Step" cut. These are absolutely some of the most popular Rubies in the world. It's important to remember that all of the red and pink gems that come out of Mogok are considered Rubies, while pink stones from other localities around the world will often be labeled as Sappphire. PLEASE NOTE: This stone was imported prior embargo implemented by the United States government states that there will NOT be ANY of these Rubies imported to U.S. soil after September 30, 2008. Now the embargo is over, but now it is still very difficult to find this material on market as it now distributed to Asian marketplaces. People are telling me that they are buying up these gems now because they have been disappearing.
