Rubies are among the most desirable and legendary gems known. There are so many stories in folklore, fantasy and actual history with Rubies playing an important role. The area around Mogok has been the source of the finest gem quality Ruby deposits in the world for centuries. Here we have an attractive strong red color "Oval" cut Ruby with excellent clarity. Now it should be noted that this stone is almost certainly glass-filled, which is a technique used to improve the clarity of Rubies, and is an acceptable practice so long as the buyer is aware that they are buying a glass-filled stone. It's still a very good sized example of this beloved material and would make for a nice center stone in a piece of jewelry. PLEASE NOTE: The embargo implemented by the United States government in stated that there will NOT be ANY of these Rubies imported to U.S. soil after in the early 2000s.
