Item Description
Some of the finest crystals of Corundum (especially Ruby) are those from around Mogok, Myanmar. This piece is a wonderful matrix display specimen featuring a group of sharp, well-formed, lustrous, rich purplish-pink colored trigonal crystals of Ruby measuring up to 1.3 cm sitting atop silvery colored marble matrix. There are a few spots of interrupted growth here and there, but if you look closely, you'll be very pleased to see that many of the crystals faces are incredibly well-formed with DISTICNT defined striations. It's important to note that this piece is NOT REPAIRED, which is a big deal as most of the Rubies that come out of Mogok are either loose singles or glued back on the matrix. This piece had the good fortune that the Ruby crystals have some crags and crevices where the marble was able to sink in and take hold, like the roots of a tooth. Priced at $850 in the inventory.
