Item Description
It's not terribly common to find sharp, well-formed Ruby crystals on matrix from any locality. The specimens from Mysore are some of the best examples of this material, and this miniature sized specimen is a wonderful representation featuring euhedral, lustrous, hexagonal prisms with a strong purplish-red color measuring up to 1.3 cm beautifully sitting on schist matrix. The main crystal is doubly-terminated and even slight gemmy when backlit. A few small imperfections can be seen, but the piece is in great shape for the most part and would make a nice addition to any miniature suite or a collection of matrix gem crystals. The piece comes with a donation label from the old Rocks & Minerals Auction in Tucson that originally came from Bill & Diana Dameron.
