Ruby from Myanmar is the standard for this celebrated gem worldwide. It is said that 90% of the top Ruby stones in the world come out of Myanmar. This gem has an attractive intense red color, and is gem quality in clarity. It has an "Oval Step" cut. It should be noted that this stone is glass-filled, which is a technique used to improve the clarity of Rubies, and is an acceptable practice so long as the buyer is aware that they are buying a glass-filled stone. PLEASE NOTE: The embargo implemented by the United States government states that there will NOT be ANY of these Rubies imported to U.S. soil after September 30, 2008. The embargo is now over, but it is still very difficult to find this material on market as it has been thoroughly distributed to Asian marketplaces, and is not nearly as available in the western markets as it was over 10 years ago. It important to note that there was NO MINING taking place at Mogok due to the combination of the pandemic and the civil war in Myanmar, so stones are notably harder to come by these days.
