Item Description

A 2.7 cm section of a rich pigeon blood-red, glassy translucent, thin tabular, textbook hexagonal ruby crystal is aesthetically set in matrix and surrounded by tiny dark green pargasite crystals. The sculptural banded matrix includes patches of light green zoisite. A fine and showy combination example of the species and locale from the Kay Robertson Collection # 8758. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Cherry red fluorescence.
