Item Description
Two sharp ruby crystals are aesthetically set on matrix on this showy and excellent miniature from this well-known red corundum mine discovered in 1956. The lustrous crystals have rich ruby-red color, moderate translucence and stepped-growth faces. The large crystal is 2.2 cm. The small crystal is pristine and the one side of large crystal is broken. This remains highly representative example with a large isolated ruby. Red fluroescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3242. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
