Item Description
A five piece rough and cut set of Ruby from various localities featuring a bit of everything. The set features a sharp, well-formed, hexagonal, rich purplish-red color, opaque crystal from Subramanium, India. The crystal is complete all the way around, and is good thumbnail sized example of these well known crystals. The next item in the set is a gorgeous 1.51 carat "Wide Pear" cut gem from Thailand with only very very slight inclusions and superb "Pigeon's Blood" Ruby red color. Next we have a couple of "Star Ruby" cabochons, one is a VERY gemmy (hard to see in the photos) pinkish 4.16 carat stone from Sri Lanka, and the other is a rich purplish-red color 11.34 carat stone from India. The "Star" in the Indian gem is better than the Sri Lankan stone, but the Sri Lankan stone is nearly transparent. Lastly we have 9.43 carat intense reddish-pink "Oval Cabochon" with great saturation of color. Altogether, you have a little bit of everything here, and the entire set is valued at $7000 together. 2.4 x 2.3 x 1.6 cm (specimen) | 1.51 carats; 7.20 mm x 6.50 mm (gemstone), 4.16 carats; 9.12 mm x 6.50 mm (stone #1) | 11.34 carats; 13.17 mm x 10.60 mm (stone #2) | 9.43 carats; 12.07 mm x 9.62 mm (stone #3)
