Ruby (fine crystal) on marble

Ruby is one of the most celebrated gems throughout history, worn for centuries as a sign of wealth, perception and success. Fine crystallized Rubies are actually quite scarce worldwide, and fine matrix specimens are even rarer on the marketplace. This piece is a fantastic matrix display specimen of Ruby, and I would like to add that not only is the crystal on this specimen very fine, but it's also UN-REPAIRED, which makes it even more desirable, as many of them are often glued back on the matrix. The Rubies from Jagdalak are among some of the most well-known and superbly crystallized examples of Ruby ever found, but are quite limited on the market. This specimen features a sharp, very well formed, rich pinkish-red color prismatic crystal with good internal gemminess measuring 1.6 cm long sitting beautifully on a soft grey marble matrix. There is one point of interrupted growth on the corner, where it was interfered with by the marble, but this is most certainly a fine Ruby specimen from a locality that is not producing nearly as many good pieces as it did 15-20 years ago. Valued at $2,400 in the inventory. For reference, if this piece were from Mogok, Myanmar, I can say with certainty that the value would be higher, though it's gemmy, so it may not have survived the mines and might have been faceted into a gemstone. It's important to keep this in mind when one is searching for a display quality matrix Ruby specimen.
