Item Description
Ruby and Sapphire are both varieties of the mineral Corundum. Ruby is typically used for red (and sometimes pink depending upon the origin) stones, and all other colors are considered Sapphire. Here we have a lovely 2-stone set featuring a "Roval" Cut Ruby with a fiery pinkish-red hue along side an "Oval" Cut Sapphire with a misty blue color. The Ruby is notably clean, and it has likely been glass-filled to improve its quality, which is a process that is widely known and accepted in the gem world, so it's not frowned upon, as long as the buyer is aware that the stone has been treated. Both of the stones are from Sri Lanka, and although many gem Sapphires have been found in Sri Lanka over the years, Rubies are not as common.
