Item Description
A significant floater ruby crystal from the ancient marble quarries at Prilep, exploited by the Greeks starting around 500 BCE. The hefty for the size translucent hexagonal crystal has fine rich pink color with scattered patches of inclusions or coatings. The vugs on the sides add character. The crystals glows when backlit and has fine two-color red and orange fluorescece. 129 grams mass. Ex Ted Bartels Collection. The 1980s to 90s dealer label has a $100 price on it. Seldom on the market.
