Item Description
Ruby is a world-famous gem mineral (gemstone), but it's amazing to think how few people actually have a good matrix display specimen of Ruby in their collections. The famous old Rubies from Jagdalak are among some of the most well known and superbly crystallized examples of Ruby ever found. This specimen features a sharp, well-formed, dark reddish-purple color crystal measuring 1.3 cm sitting on a marble matrix with minor brownish colored associated Pyrite. The Ruby crystal is a little rough on the front where it was probably contacted during the collecting process, but it shows a lovely internal gemminess when backlit. A nice Ruby specimen from a locality that is not producing nearly as many good pieces as it did 15 years ago.
