A 2.1 cm, classic pigeoní? ó¢s-blood red Ruby crystal is artfully sitting atop the Quartz-rich matrix on this showy specimen from India. The crystal is a very sharp, well-formed, doubly-terminated textbook hexagonal prism which is actually translucent around the edges. A few smaller Rubies can be seen here and there, but the main crystal is the focal point. I can see a tiny rub on one end where the basal termination meets the prism on the main crystal, but otherwise it's undamaged. From an old East Coast collection. Classic material, these are some of the best matrix Rubies in the world.
