Item Description
Ruby is an incredibly well-known gem, beloved for its visceral beauty and durability. Fine stones are highly sought after in the gem world. Even people with little or no knowledge of gems can tell you what a Ruby is. They have been treasured for centuries, and top examples are some of the most valuable precious gems in the world. The finest Rubies are found in the Mogok area in Myanmar, where Ruby mining has taken place for hundreds of years. Here we have a 5-stone set of gems, all with "Step Round" cuts. All of the stones have an alluring saturated pinkish-red color, and they are certainly gem quality in clarity, as I can't see much in way of inclusions with the naked eye. A great set for a custom piece of jewelry, especially if you know someone with a July birthday. It should be noted that these stones are most likely glass-filled, which is fairly common for the material, as the majority of Rubies on the market are treated or glass-filled, a technique used to improve the clarity of Rubies, and is an acceptable practice so long as the buyer is aware that they are buying a glass-filled stone.
PLEASE NOTE: These gems were imported almost 20 years ago, prior to the embargo implemented by the United States government which denied the import of these Rubies to U.S. soil after September 30, 2008. Between the COVID pandemic, and political upheaval in Myanmar, mining hasn't taken place, and the market at Mogok is shut down, so it's a good idea to buy this set now because they will likely be going up in price moving forward.
