This fine Tourmaline thumbnail, from the Jonas find at the old Itatiaia mine, is a classic Rubellite, with rich, cranberry-red color and striated prism faces. This is a very high quality thumbnail from the famous Jonas Mine pocket of 1978, and you really do NOT see a lot of thumbnail Jonas crystals for sale. Ever. Few came out that were not simply cut for the gem trade, while larger and more valuable specimens were saved for what collectors would pay.
