Item Description

The Cruzeiro Mine is one of the top Tourmaline specimen-producing localities in Brazil. For decades, this world-famous locality has given collectors numerous colorful Tourmalines, and in recent years, some gorgeous Rubellites. This piece is a lovely cabinet sized example of this attractive material featuring a rather gemmy, prismatic, striated crystal of Rubellite measuring 1.4 cm long with glowing reddish-pink color, along with several additional Rubellites associated with a copule of deep purple colored gropus of "Lepidolite" Mica, sitting on a blocky, off-white colored crystal of Microcline. I put "Lepidolite" in quotes because it's no longer considered a species, and right now it's said to be a series between Polylithionite and Trilithionite. With that said, the vast majority of people still refer to this Mica as "Lepidolite", and I guess I'm doing the same. No major damage, and the color combination is striking. A showy specimen of this world-famous material from Brazil.
