Item Description

Tourmalines are some of the most diverse and popular gems out there. They're one of the few gems that occur in natural bicolor stones as well. Many of the good Rubellite Tourmalines on the market today are Afghani in origin, and remain as some of the most attractive in the gem world. This particular gem was cut from a piece of rough found about 10 years ago in Afghanistan The stone shows a fiery and lively pink color throughout (BETTER THAN THE PHOTOS INDICATE!). The stone has only very very slight inclusions, which is very good for this material. Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, as inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors, so when you find a stone like this, especially a with such great color, it's a real treat. I have to say that these stones are becoming harder and harder to find these days when so much of the gem Tourmalines are being purchased by the Chinese, and less is finding its way to the western market. It is a great naturally occurring gem for your collection. Priced at $862.00 high retail.
