Rubellite Tourmaline in matrix

Rarely do you see a rubellite from this locale in matrix, aside from the fact that this is the highly desirable bubblegum pink hue! Most often, they are just singles, or have some minor attached matrix at base. This, however, is a doubly-terminated, pristine, 5.8 x 3 x 2 cm bubblegum pink crystal that is perched aesthetically still on its matrix. This is a frozen doubly-terminated crystal! It COULD be pried cleanly out of matrix to make a single or a freestanding vertical crystal if desired (and as a floater,is it maybe worth more?), but these are so rare that I would not want to reduce the matrix here. This was collected around 2003-2004 (which I bought at that time as a larger specimen from Francois Lietard at a show, and trimmed up, sold, and got back later). Comes with custom lucite display base. A very unusual display specimen with hot pink color...a really special color that only came out in a few small pockets in the 1990s and is now legendary for Afghani material, a bit hard to convey in photos. No repairs!
