Going back to the 1990s, some of the finest gem Rubellite Tourmaline was discovered in Nigeria. These stones to this day are some of the best examples of Rubellite in terms of size, color and quality. These stones rivaled the best Rubellite gems from Brazil that were found a few decades earlier. This stone is from the older Nigerian material and is a classic Rubellite with very very slight inclusions, and a gorgeous saturated fiery pink color. The stone has a lovely "Oval Brilliant" cut. Fine Rubellites can retail for over $1,000 per carat these days, and the Nigerian material is becoming less and less available on the market. This stone was cut by Brett Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co., who is a 4-time AGTA Spectrum Award winning gem cutter. The high retail price on this stone is $1,179.00. Enjoy.
