Item Description

This piece is a classic thumbnail sized example of the most famous of red tourmalines, known as Rubellites in the gem trade. This is from the single most famous pocket of tourmaline ever, the Jonas pocket of 1978 (for which there are many articles out there to read!) It is a shockingly GEM QUALITY, reddish-pink cranberry color prismatic crystal free of matrix and masses 3.5 grams. This is typical of the Jonas material of the time, although most were cut for gems. It is a stunning, fine thumbnail specimen, from the Jack Halpern collection.
