Tourmalines are beloved by dealers and collectors for their intense colors in various shades. Nigeria has produced some top quality Tourmalines for many years, including some of the finest gem grade Rubellite to come out of any country. Here we have a superb Rubellite Tourmaline with excellent size, top color and great cutting. The stone is slightly included with a glowing pink hue and a "brilliant oval" cut. The rough from which this stone was faceted came out of the ground around 20 years ago. The color is VERY saturated and attractive for the size. Fine Rubellites can retail for over $500 per carat on the high end gem market. It should be noted that this material seems to have dried up in recent years, and good gems with the fiery pink color like this stone are becoming much more difficult to find these days.
