Rubellite Tourmaline

Here we have a beautiful single crystal of unusual Rubellite Tourmaline with a lovely "needle"-like formation and excellent cranberry color. The piece is actually pretty lustrous, but since it has tiny faces, you can't see luster until you really look close. There is a small area with a purplish-lavendar color at the base of the crystal as well, which is rare in my experience with this material. The crystal is in excellent shape, and would make a nice addition to any Tourmaline suite, or a miniutre collection. The piece came out of a find nearly 25 years ago.
