Item Description

The famous pegmatite deposits around Itambacuri are best known for the world class gem crystal silicates, including wonderful Tourmaline specimens. This particular piece is a riveting, beautifully colored Tourmaline with great gemminess, from a find over 30 years ago. Santa Rosa has not produced good Rubellite Tourmalines in any size for quite some time. This crystal is in great shape overall and complete-all-around save only a small bit of edge wear in the back of the termination. The surface is bright and glassy, which is important for these specimens, as many are rather dull and somtimes pitted. There is an internal brightness when the crystal is backlit. The color gradation is more evident, and impressive in person, with the classic darker termination. A beautiful gem crystal, easily backlit and shown to its full potential without need of any strong lighting. Retail value $1600.
