Item Description
A wonderful locality gem from Pala, California. This "Oval Cabochon" cut stone has a fiery vivid pink hue with good internal gemminess from this prestigious Tourmaline-producing part of the world. The color is saturated and eye-catching, indicative of the area, and truly desirable for any fan of Tourmalines, U.S. gemstones or specifically material from San Diego County. It would make a great match for a crystal from this area for a stellar "rough and cut" set! Valued at $2,962.50 retail for the size and significance of the locality.
From the collection of William ("Bill") Alexander Needham Severance (1931 – 2023), the well-known, beloved and prolific mineral and gem collector from West Grove, Pennsylvania. Bill's gem paper accompanies the stone which lists the weight at 16.2 carats, but we double-checked and it's actually 11.85 carats. He obtained it from Elaine Rohrbach on February 12, 2013.
