Item Description

Roxbyite is an extremely rare copper sulfide that is found in less than two dozen localities in the world, always as micro crystals. The species is a low temperature alteration of Djurleite. This particular specimen is from the type locality for the species, which was named in 1986 after Roxby Downs, the home of the Olympic Dam Mine. This piece features micro metallic, silvery-grey colored pseudo-cubic (triclinic) crystals of Roxbyite on host rock matrix. It's the only specimen of this material that we've had to offer, and if you collect rarities, or species from the type locality, this is a SUPERB opportunity to pick up something that is virtually impossible to find on the market. From the collection of Paolo Matioli.
