Rosenhahnite (extremely rare) (ex Josef Vajdak)

Item Description

Rosenhahnite is an extremely rare hydroxy calcium silicate that was first discovered along the Russian River in Mendocino County, California. The species was named after Leo Rosenhahn who was an amateur mineralogist from California. This piece is from the type locality, which was discovered in 1967 and features small / micro, translucent, flat beige-white colored crystals on host rock matrix. It's clearly a micro specimen, and we have photographed the crystals with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality and enhance the detail. This is the only piece of this species that we have to offer of this material and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, along with three other labels from different collectors.
