Item Description

Roselite is a rare calcium cobalt arsenate species, and has one of the most distinctive and alluring colors in the mineral world. The vivid color is comparable to Chromian Clinochlore ("Kammererite") or Erythrite, but still has a singular hue all its own. The finest examples of the species are those from the Aghbar Mine in Morocco. This small cabinet display specimen is loaded with small, superb quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, rather GEMMY, monoclinic crystals with that classic fuchsia color on very pale pink cobalt-bearing Calcite crystals on matrix. Nearly every crystal of Roselite on front / display side of the specimen is pristine, and they are genuinely fun to view up close, as the quality is top notch. We have photographed them with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. A must have for any fan of minerals or Morocco or for anybody who has been looking for a wonderful piece of Roselite for a great price. I put a value of $1,800 on this one. From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#4 M), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
