Item Description
A rarely seen specimen of soft pink colored Rose Quartz from Newry, Maine! Most people think of Brazil when it comes to crystallized Rose Quartz, but there are few localities in Maine that produce fine quality crystals of this pink variety of Quartz. A handful of fairly sharp, soft pink colored, hexagonal prisms of Rose Quartz are sitting on a matrix of white Quartz, Feldspar and Muscovite. If you collect gem pegmatite crystals, worldwide Quartz or minerals from Maine don't miss out on this one, as it easily dates back 35-40+ years, and is a great time capsule of what the specimens looked like coming out of this locality during that period. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
