Item Description

This piece was a little difficult to photograph, but I think it comes through in the photos. It's not your typical Rose Quartz from Brazil, which is often seen overgrowing white / colorless Quartz, and that's the case on this piece, but what makes it different or special is the fact that there are groups of Muscovite IN BETWEEN, which is rarely seen in this material. The Rose Quartz has formed almost "scepter"-like overgrowths on the original Quartz prisms, but not before a deposition of golden hexagonal Muscovite found their way in there. You can clearly see the Muscovite is under the Rose Quartz, which is out of order in the paragenesis in my experience, as the mica will often come in closer to the end. The piece is in very good shape overall with the only real damage being on the back where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. If you collect Quartz or Brazilian minerals, do NOT miss out on this one, it's really a cool piece and incredibly hard to find in my opinion. Priced at $750. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10775). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
