Rose Quartz from the mines in Galileia are among the most noted in the world, and were first discovered in the 1970's. This distinctive, small cabinet piece is composed of gemmy and highly lustrous Rose Quartz crystals with an exceptionally rich pink color. I'm not sure what it is about the specific growing conditions or the chemistry of Rose Quartz, but classic specimens often have the crystals wrapping themselves around the matrix, in this case a hollow, undulating Quartz cast. Adding to the aura of this piece is a gem-clear, 1.8 cm Quartz crystal that rises up from between the Rose Quartz crystals. And if that wasn't enough, there is an inclusion on this crystal's termination that has a ring around it, bearing a striking resemblance to a radioactive halo. I'm not sure if it is or not, but it looks intriguing nonetheless. Rose Quartz remains uncommon, with quality, aesthetic specimens such as this being hard to find, and cherished.
