Rose Quartz (bi-colored)

The Rose Quartz specimens from the Pitorra Claim in Brazil are among the finest examples of crystallized Rose Quartz in the world. This piece is a bit different from what we're used to seeing from the locale as it is honestly gemmier, and has an interesting bi-colored effect with pink and colorless tones. It's also a larger individual crystal than what one would expect from this locality, as the crystals are often smaller and tightly packed together, whereas this piece is a big single crystal with a few accessory terminations. The upper portion of the piece shows a soft pink color, but it's honestly not as saturated as it could be due to the fact that it's more transparent, which will often cause the intensity of the pink hue to be lessened with these pieces. The lower portion ranges from colorless to white and smoky tones and while it's still gemmy, it does range into a cloudier translucency near the base. It's complete on all sides with no major damage, though there is a sub-surface fracture near the termination, but it's not broken. I love the graceful almost swirling surface etching features that give the piece an ethereal quality. This is the kind of piece that stands out from other Rose Quartz crystals for its unusual coloring, quality & style, and would make a great addition to any Quartz suite, or a collection of either gem pegmatite minerals or Brazilian minerals.
