Rose Quartz is the well known and very unique pink color variety of Quartz. Some research has indicated that the color in Rose Quartz is caused by micro inclusion of minerals such as Dumortierite. The material is beloved for its unique pink color which ranges from a soft pink to a rather rich vivid pink from some localities. Rose Quartz stones are often used in cabochons as the material is rarely clean enough for faceted gems, because the majority of it is too "milky" or "cloudy". This particular stone is a very good sized gem and has superb clarity for a Rose Quartz. It is a very impressive, very very slightly "milky", pink color gem with a an "Oval Cabochon" cut. The starting bid puts this stone at just over $6 per carat, which is a great price for a gem of this quality and size
