Rose Quartz is the pink variety of Quartz. Some research has indicated that the color in Rose Quartz is caused by micro inclusion of minerals such as Domortierite. The material is beloved for its unique pink color which ranges from a soft pink to a rather rich vivid pink from some localities. Rose Quartz stones are often used in cabochons as the material is rarely clean enough for faceted gems, because the majority of it is "milky" or "cloudy". This particular stone is a very good sized gem and has decent clarity for a Rose Quartz. It is a nice pink color gem with a "Pear" cut and excellent transparency, with only a tiny amount of "milky" appearance. The starting bid puts this stone at just under $4 per carat, which is a great price for a gem of this quality and size
