Item Description
Leadville is well known for its Silver deposits, but the secondary ore minerals from the Sherman mine are beloved by Colorado collectors. Here we have a great secondary ore association specimen. This piece features a nice patch of greenish-blue Rosasite spherical aggregates which are associated with pale blue gemmy "rice grain" shaped crystals of Smithsonite. There is also some minor associated Malachite and Calcite on the piece as well. There are grey-black "balls" of possibly Goethite or another iron or manganese oxide. I know its not what you typically expect from a Colorado specimen, and this material is rare from this mine. This specimen is over 30 years old as it was collected in 1980 and came from the collection Brian Kosnar from his father Richard Kosnar.
